Autumn is in full swing, and as of this week it is actually starting to feel like it. It is time to break out the sweaters, scarfs, and pumpkin spiced lattes. (Ok, we’ll be honest, we’ve been drinking PSLs since early September.) Soon, the fall foliage will be at its peak. That means it’s time for what the locals affectionately refer to as leaf lookin’. There is something about the swaths of color that really drives people wild, us included. We’ve gathered together some of the best places in the Upstate and adjacent for you to see the leaves in all of their splendor. You better be-leaf it Upstaters!
Disc golf enthusiasts in the Upstate have no shortage of options to choose from in order to enjoy the sport that has been growing in popularity since the 1970s. As far back as the 1920s, people have been throwing discs at targets in a golf-like game, but it wasnt until the late 1960s, when a California parks and recreation supervisor petitioned Wham-O, the makers of the Frisbee, to supply discs for a tournament, that the seeds of the sport were planted.
Something lurks in the dark at the Abbeville Opera House...at least that is what the legend says. The ITK Tribe was on the case as they bravely volunteered to conduct a ghost hunt. The folks at the Abbeville Opera House were so gracious enough to host us. From spooky figures to falling flashlights, did we encounter a ghost? Regardless, we had a great time exploring this historic, majestic building.

This week’s Fresh Air Friday is familiar to anyone who has been following ITK for quite some time. The Poinsett Bridge. That being said, today we are focusing on the less spooky side of things. The bridge is actually home to some incredible hiking. Along with the views, you’ll be learning some informative (and entertaining) history.
Craft beer is taking over the Upstate… there’s no denying it. But sometimes it’s difficult to know what to order. “What flavors are in this?” “HOW much alcohol is that?!” “Isn’t all craft beer bitter?” We’ve decided to take this to the experts. Stephanie King, our Social Media Director (and Cicerone® Certified Beer Server), is visiting local brewers to learn about their beer, and who exactly will enjoy it! Hint…. just about everyone. In this episode of Upstate on Draft, Stephanie talks to with Michael Robinson, one of the owners of 13 Stripes Brewery in Taylors, about their 2018 Oktoberfest. Check out the video below to learn all about the beer (+ the accompanying festival)!
