We love it when a band subverts our expectations. That is exactly what happened when we were introduced to Shaken Nature. It is refreshing to see a modern band take such a vintage approach to their sound. We know you’ll love it too when they take the stage at Velo Fellow on Friday. Also be sure to check out The Work reunion show. As usual, be sure to check out this week’s lineup of live music you won’t want to miss.
After a week-long hiatus, #MusicMonday is back! Unlike a contentious band breakup, we couldn’t disappoint our fans. For the reunion tour, we are kicking things off with a spotlight on * repeat repeat. Then we focus on The Iron Maidens. For the encore, be sure to stick around for your weekly round up of shows you can’t miss.
The downside, if there is one, to having a thriving local music scene is that sometimes you will have some hard decisions to make. Look no further than this Friday night when there are two shows happening simultaneously and unless you are Michael Keaton from Multiplicity, there is no way to see them both. If we cannot see both shows, the least we can do is tell you about them, though, plus one more that you will not want to miss on Sunday. All three of these shows feature immensely talented and amazing women so enjoy a weekend of listening to the ladies do their thing, wherever you end up.
We may be in the dog days of summer, but there are still music festivals dotting the Upstate scene. Thursday through Saturday, the Spittoono Music Fest will be taking Central by storm. If you are looking for something a little more on the rare side, then head to NOMA Square on Friday evening for a performance from Mac Arnold & Plate Full O’ Blues. Be sure to fill your week with music and check out the shows you can’t miss.
This week, Music Monday is all about a real-life folk hero. Justin Osborne of Susto is performing a solo show at The Radio Room on Friday. Learn about the storied history of how Susto came to be, as well as what you can expect from this rare solo show. We also cover The Claremont Trip at Birds Fly South. Make sure to peep the lineup of shows you won’t want to miss.
Summer and bluegrass go together like salt on a watermelon. Not everyone will get it, but to southerners, there is nothing better. This week we are covering renowned musician Sam Bush and his upcoming show at The Spinning Jenny in Greer. Sam’s award-winning musical stylings are sure to leave the audience dancing well into the night. We also look into the fun of Future Chord Fest. Be sure to check out the other shows this week you can’t miss!
There are so many things that come to mind when someone says, “Johnny Cash.” The Man in Black, Ring of Fire, and maybe even Joaquin Phoenix. Upstate folk musician Stephen Hardy should also come to mind. In this week’s edition of Music Monday, we explore why. We also delve into the story of the under-the-radar music of T. Hardy Morris. As always, our weekly run-down of shows you can’t missed is SLAMMED with great music.
LOZ, no, not pronounced “LOZ,” but as the individual letters, L-O-Z. Formerly the Lionz of Zion, the LOZ Band will take the stage at this week’s iteration of Quest’s Thursday Night Concert Series on the eve of their album release. Become Alive will be released on Friday, but you can hear it early on Thursday. Fill your week with music by checking out this week’s lineup of shows.
