SC Women Worth Remembering

SMC is welcoming local author Sheila Ingle to Gibbs Auditorium at 7pm, March 13. Ingle will be speaking about her books, including her popular series celebrating important women in Revolutionary War-era South Carolina and her latest, “Tales of a Cosmic Possum,” about her husband’s family in Ingle Holler, South Carolina, where they settled after migrating from Appalachia in search of a more prosperous life via Upstate cotton mills.
Ingle is very active in the Spartanburg community, having taught English, writing and drama classes in Spartanburg County and English at USC Upstate for over 20 years. She is a member of Chapter D PEO, where she is currently serving as District II Director and State Constitution Chair. She is also a member of the Spartanburg County Historical Association Board and Board Chair of Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas.
